This trip provides the perfect combination of walking and whisky, taking you right into the heart of Scotland’s whisky production in the Speyside. The clear water of the Spey, one of Scotland’s longest rivers, has attracted the greatest number of distilleries in the country, producing some of the best-selling Single Malts in the world, such as the Glenlivet and Glenfiddich. The trail is also a great introduction to long-distance walking, as its paths are easy and well signposted throughout.
The approximately 65-mile trail runs from Buckie on the north-east coast to Aviemore on the edge of the Cairngorms, covering a variety of landscapes, from coastline to woodland and rolling hills. Keep your eyes peeled for ospreys, eagles and the elusive wildcat.
