Scotland Up Close
Our trips are designed to take you right into the heart of the Scottish experience. We take a very thoughtful approach to travelling, and will always prioritise the authentic and the less-obvious. You will find this reflected in every element of your holiday, from the itinerary to the choice of activities and service providers, such as overnight accommodation. We want you to meet the locals, taste Scottish produce and specialities and generally get a true feel for the country and its culture.
Apart from showing you everything that Scotland has to offer, we will also make sure that your holiday is a relaxing experience, where you can recharge your batteries. We do this by building realistic, stress-free itineraries and by factoring in plenty of downtime. Your travel documents will provide you with useful information and a variety of recommendations that will further enhance your overall experience.
Sustainable and Environmentally-Friendly
Wind & Cloud Travel – the clue is in the name. It simply describes what we love the most about Scotland: the wind and the clouds in the sky, forever changing and holding us spellbound in the midst of Scotland’s natural beauty.
It therefore shouldn’t come as a surprise that sustainability and protecting the environment is at the heart of our business. We are constantly monitoring the social, environmental and economic impact of our work, dedicated to sustaining the environment for future generations.
Our travel portfolio features many environmentally-friendly ways of travelling, such as train travel and hiking, and we even developed a dedicated Eco-Tour, our greenest tour on offer. Our car hire options involve fuel-efficient hybrid and electric cars and we even offer a paper-free alternative for all your travel documents. We actively support small, local businesses and promote economically underdeveloped and disadvantaged regions, wherever possible.
Travelling by public transport and on foot make up 60% of our tours. Where hire cars and other vehicles are involved, we try to lessen the environmental impact by carefully choosing routes and by keeping the time on the road to a minimum. We have been TourCert certified since 2017, continuously developing and improving our sustainability performance.
Since 2013 we have been supporting Atmosfair, giving our customers the opportunity to offset unavoidable emissions. When booking your trip, we offer you the option to make a donation to climate protection.
Being so dedicated to the green cause has even won us some awards:
In 2011 we won the Silver Green Tourism Business Scheme award, followed by Gold in 2013. In the same year we were also nominated for their acclaimed Goldstar award.
We are also very proud to have been awarded the Gold Scottish Green Apple Award, the Bronze British Green Apple Award and the VIBES Award for the most eco-friendly micro-business.
Environmental and Social Projects
We are very invested in numerous local projects, for example the “Trees for Life” initiative. Their vision is to revitalise wild forest in the Highlands of Scotland, providing space for wildlife to flourish and communities to thrive.
Together with “Keep Scotland Beautiful” we are actively involved in litter picking and gardening projects in our local South Queensferry.
